Make sure they have insurance
I can’t think of anything more frustrating than finally pulling up to your new home and just when you start to unload the truck you find out that a piece of furniture, that happens to be a family heirloom, was all scratched up and pretty much ruined. Talk about gut wrenching. Then to top it all off the “professional movers” you went with didn’t even offer insurance, but at the time you didn’t think not having it would be a big deal at all.
This tells me a few things about that the professional movers who moved you 1) They didn’t take their time and pad all of your furniture 2) They didn’t value your belongings by treating them with respect and 3) They weren’t really “professional movers”.
Always hire professional movers
There is a huge difference between professional movers and movers trying to make an extra buck. Check out our “Quality vs. Quantity” movers blog post to learn more on this topic. This is why it is so important for you as the customer to do your research before you commit to that oh so appealing $50/hour add you saw for local movers. Even though the price may seem amazing, it’s not, I promise!
My dad always told me, “If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.”
When looking to hire a mover you need to always ask the following questions:
- Are they insured?
- Do they provide insurance to their customers?
- Are they registered with TXDOT?
- Do they own their own truck?
We will be more than happy to answer YES to all of these questions for you because we are in fact the real deal and professional movers. So the next time you are on the hunt for a mover, it may be in your best interest to take a little more time and do your research.
